The 8 Track Favourites, who have been together for the past few years, are a group that has a major buzz around them. Wherever they play, they are playing to packed houses.

The 8 Track Favourites is a supergroup made up of some of the finest musicians in Newfoundland today. The personnel includes Larry Foley and Patrick Moran (The Punters), Chris LeDrew (Brothers In Stereo), Sandy Morris, Barry Hillier and George Morgan.

The 8 Track Favourites cover the old time country hits in their own style and dress on stage in hats and country attire reminiscent of the style of the older country performers.

Walking away from a performance of The 8 Track Favourites you will feel thoroughly satisfied. Surprisingly the audience is somewhat younger than you would think with many in the audience not having been born when these songs were hits, but these younger people have embraced and sing along to all the hits.

This is a live recording of the band which captures them at their best and helps you relive the good feeling you had when you attended their show.

Personnel:

One of the principal members of The Punters, which have been together for ten (10) years now, Larry can also be found playing with a variety of local artists including Joy Norman, Con O’Brien and Chris LeDrew. Larry is always singing and playing somewhere on almost every night of the week. Just recently Larry and Patrick Moran did a fifteen (15) day tour in Switzerland, and have also toured extensively in Canada and the USA throughout their career. He is also an accomplished songwriter and is always there to lend a hand to anyone who needs it. Larry’s exceptional voice can be heard on songs he contributed to the very popular Our Songs and Our Songs 2 compilation CD ‘s. Larry is the primary lead vocalist and plays guitar with The 8 Track Favourites.

Another of the principal members of The Punters, which have been together for ten (10) years now, Patrick is a very versatile musician and entertainer whose talents are on display not only with The Punters and The 8 Track Favourites but also occasionally with Shanneyganock. As well Patrick is a member of The Government Rams and Crooked Stovepipe. Patrick has also teamed up with Chris Andrews and just released a CD “No Place Like Home”. Patrick though mostly known for his fiddle playing is also very accomplished on guitar and mandolin, both of which he played on the CD with Chris Andrews. With The 8 Track Favourites Patrick plays fiddle and also contributes some lead and harmony vocals.

Mr. Music, what else can you say. Sandy has lent his talents to so many musicians over the years it would be too hard to list them all, in fact it would be easier to list who he hasn’t played with. Although he has been known as the ultimate sideman, recently we have seen him take more of a leader role with the release of his solo CD “Music From Land and Sea”. Sandy has been composing the music for the Land and Sea Show for over ten (10) years. He is also a partner with Erin Best in the band RASA. With The 8 Track Favourites Sandy plays guitar.

Chris, along with his brother Andrew, is a principle in the band “Brothers In Stereo”. An accomplished songwriter, his songs have been recorded on his solo CD “Too Commercial”, by Lennie Gallant, The Punters as well as Brothers In Stereo. With The 8 Track Favourites Chris plays Pedal Steel Guitar and also contributes some lead and harmony vocals. The 8 Track Favourites CD is dedicated to the memory of Fred Truitt who upon his passing gave his steel guitar to Chris.

George is a very accomplished musician and recording artist. George has just released his solo CD “Wonderbolt”. George has contributed his talents to many recording projects and regularly plays with The Punters and The 8 Track Favourites as well as sitting in with various other artists. George is the drummer with The 8 Track Favourites.

Barry is the man that lays down that solid beat with The 8 Track Favourites as well as with The Punters and Ron Hynes. Barry has also lent his talents to many artists’ recording projects. Together with George Morgan they make up the rhythm section in the band. With The 8 Track Favourites Barry plays bass and also contributes some lead and harmony vocals.
